Back from Australia

I'm back from Australia and mostly readjusted to the time change. The race was a huge success, and I'm proud of my daughter and amazed at how well she did! (See here for further details.)

I want to thank Paul for keeping things going while I was gone. It was quite relaxing being effectively out of touch for two weeks! Verizon cell phones don't work there (nor any other CDMA-based phones), and internet access is expensive (so it was impractical trying to keep up with too much email). I still haven't waded through the more than a thousand emails that were waiting for me when I got home.

As I'm sure everyone knows by now, our practice times were changed to 7:30-9:00 on Mondays, and 5:15-6:45 on Wednesdays. Mondays are on the lighted turf field at Alhambra High School, while Wednesdays are on the unlighted grass field at Alhambra. While this may not be ideal for everyone, it's what we have to work with. With AYSO in full swing (and sharing field space), schools back in session (and using their fields again), and dwindling daylight, options are limited.

I trust everyone has received the schedule for this weekend's tournament in Clayton. I've also posted it on our forum here.

Apparantly, we didn't do the team picture on Picture Day? I have an email saying that picture makeups will be Monday, October 5. We need to respond to the photographer with what timeslot we want. Our choices are 15-minute intervals from 5:00 to 6:15. We have a 7:30 practice that Monday, so it seems to me the latest timeslot we can get would be better since photo-plus-practice would consume less of the day. If anyone has any other thoughts, please let me or Kirsten know by this Wednesday's practice.

It's good to be back working with the girls again.
